Adventures in Glasgow

I spent three days this week through in Glasgow, taking part in the Young Writers scheme, part 2.  It was excellent, and I’m not going to go into a boring amount of detail, but I learned so much.  And I’ve made a heap of new friends as well!  First though, this:

All three days I was in Glasgow I saw this.  Every morning, after getting off the train and heading to the theatre, this.  I could understand seeing this on a Sunday morning.  Maybe even a Monday.  But I was there Tuesday through Thursday!  Made me smile every morning though.

This is the Brian Cox theatre at SYT.  It’s bigger than it looks in this photo, though it’s not a huge space.  It was big enough for us anyway.

This is an atrocious photo, because the lighting in the theatre is, well, stage lighting, and not amazing for point-and-shoot cameras.  HOWEVER.  This is Rhiannon (left) discovering the joy of maple syrup and french toast together, for the first time in her life.  Followed quickly by her discovering the horror of super sticky fingers (not pictured).

But best of all, this story:

While I was grabbing some lunch one afternoon, walking down the street I saw this old lady with a bag of breadcrumbs.  She was scattering them about, and a handful of pigeons were pecking away happily.  A man walked past her, and muttered “pigeons are vermin,” not to her, but so she’d hear.  She just glared at him, and immediately dumped the whole bag of crumbs on the pavement.  Result?  This:

I love Glasgow.
